Loneliness

The turbid octopus arises from the depths of the heart, as from the sea. The affections were distracted a day before, laughing, and dreams, sensing danger, steered around the hollow, as a snorkeler avoids a treacherous shelf. But the monster, often stronger, becomes more intense, sapping life and hope, immobilizing its prey.

Loneliness can drag us down with it; but we must not accept defeat by looking at the dark side of life...there is usually a light round the corner. Take care. // paul

Thanks for the encouraging words. I wrote this poem many years ago. Reading it now, it looks to me like I was describing depression more than loneliness. Maybe I should re-title it.

Thanks, Anne, for your encouragement. This poem was written many years ago, but your wisdom still holds. I've enjoyed your poems, also. Carol
