Some people want so much to help that they take on more than they can handle. They just can't say No to anything or anybody. Then they get too many irons in the fire and everything goes wrong because one person is trying to do it all. They haven't learned that there is just so much any one person can do.It's important to give yourself a break now and then. Learn to say that you have already got too many other things going on and can't take on any more. When you try too hard and try to do too much some other people may think you think you know everything and won't give anyone else a chance to show what they can do so back off and give yourself a break and let someone else give it a go.. Everyone will be happier.

It's easy to get frazzled, Just drained by difficulty' But there's much more to experience, The best things in life are free. You'll find every day holds treasures, More treasures than troubles, you'll see, If you just take a moment to notice, To take a deep breath, just breathe. Just decide to be happy, Whatever your circumstance; For help is just 'round the corner, You have but to ask, take a chance. Most folks make their own problems, By taking on more than they can do; Then get mad because of all that's expected, And thinking that they're being used. Just learn to say 'No, I can't do it.' It's okay, you can't do it all. By taking on more than you can handle, You're setting yourself up for a fall. Just learn to know your own limits, Whatever you can or can't do. You'll be happier by setting your boundaries. To thine own self be true.

All too true, and if you do you become exhausted and could get sick yourself what will your family do then who perhaps need you as much. Wise poem as always my friend, Hugs and blessings, Jennifer.

There's a lot of wisdom packed into this fine poem, Judy. It took me 60 years to finally learn this very lesson. Thank God, for helping me to understand, that just because I can do something doesn't mean I should do it. I want to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, Judy. Bill

Thank you so much Bill. Favors are dangerous because once you start doing them it's hard to stop. Soon you are everyone's "Go To" when they need something and you have no time to do your own things. Thanks bunches. God Bless and Merry Christmas, JB

I must admit that I can resonate with these words many times, when struggling with saying 'No' results in having too much responsibilities and anxiety.. I agree with your words of wisdom and depth here. We need to have a set limit of boundaries otherwise our souls get exhausted in the long run. You've a wonderful way of expressing these meaningful advices in such an impeccable way.. This is amazingly crafted :)

Judy, such sage and wonderful advise displayed here in your poetically beautiful way! The line which resonated most with me is " Just decide o be happy", that must be done! I just love this piece! A Happy Weekend to you xxoo

It is great advice... though I'm at a point where my 'boundaries' rarely get me past the front door. Pain'll do that to you. My earlobes and fingernails feel pretty good today though! Yippee! Keep smiling, gw

Great advice Judy. Sometimes we find ourselves mired in by way too much and it's hard to break free. Things set in motion years ago by way of 'traditions' become chains because we've committed ourselves way in over our heads when we had more energy. I am still trying to figure it all out myself. This time of the year is supposed to be a joy filled time; I can hardly see my way through the holiday stuff to do. 'No', hm, sounds simple enough! I want to print your poem and glue it to my forehead!!

I too just can't say No to anything or anybody, Judy! I take on much more than I should and sometimes it becomes too much to handle. I ought to take your advice and draw a red line when that happens. ~ Regards & blessings // paul

That's great advice Judy and we should live by that, yes we all want to help others but there is only so much we can do. I've heard of people making themselves sick with worry over it. We have to prioritise things sometimes and be firm in telling people that, yes, I'd love to help but this time I can't. Well written Judy. Merry Christmas. Tom

Wise advice within the words of your poetry. I've never understood why some don't seek other's help...perhaps those folks don't want to admit they have limits? Maybe they want to be in control and perceive getting help as a form of losing control? Who knows..I'm no psychologist...just an overthinking poetess :-) Enjoyed the read...have a great evening, Sara

Yes, I agree that we can take on too much responsibility, but sometimes just what needs to be done at home is way too much. Thanks for sharing your talent with us and for dropping by my page. Sara K
