My father's dad died when he was but an early adult. He never had the opportunity to hear the perspective and wisdom of his dad. I, on the other hand, have had the opportunity to get to know my dad much better, since Mom died. I have found him to be caring and compassionate. He is a man of great gratitude for his family. I am proud and happy to call him my father.

I believe that what we become depends on what our fathers teach us at odd moments, when they aren’t trying to teach us. We are formed by little scraps of wisdom. We learn the first lessons of life from our parents. In your case as your mother died early, you got all lessons of life and wisdom from your father. How happy he must be in Heaven if he could read what you wrote for him. I believe, he must be very proud of his dear daughter.

My Dad is alive. His dad passed away early. Maybe I’ll share this with him.

a delightful poem, Kim. I agree with you...we learn so much from little scraps of our father's wisdom. Grateful you've had the opportunity to get to know your dad better. You must be his pride, his precious daughter. Enjoy your evening, hugs, Sara

Found a quote but haven’t read the book. Regardless, I enjoyed his quote.

- Fathers are not always easy to get under the skin of... even though I grew up with my father (and mother) I didn't get to know him until after my mother's death :) - Great poem, Kim :) - hugs
