Legends of Twenty-Seven

Jimi's groovy guitar leaps Psychedelic anthem beats Certainly a broader reach Than what banal mainstreams seek Janis sang in passion rough Too much for the upper crust Voice of insistence and rush Love songs with a gritty touch Jim's strange Doors opened destined Music of scant time's lessons Fallen stars burn in legend Breathless at twenty-seven 5/24/20

You captured all three quite well. You descriptions are spot on and you ending "breathless at twenty-seven" sums up the 27 Club quite well. I love you simple direct poem. Nicely done.

Great stuff! Back in the day I recall being at an outdoor concert on the Washington DC mall with Jimi and (I think) Janice.

The 27 club; what a club to belong to - in many ways so glorious, such innovative music and in another sad. Nicely penned.

Michelle, excellent poetic tribute to the 3 founding members of the 27 Club, all died within 10 months of one another. The 70's were definitely a different decade without the soul these 3 brought to the music world. Jim Morrison was considered quite the rock poet, Janis and Jimi both very influential musicians. Great job on your assonance choice, and a great ending. Well crafted, this should do well in the contest ~ John

I love these artists, Michelle...this is a wonderful tribute. Also, Kurt Cobain, Jimmy Hendrix, Amy Winehouse, etc. Far too many great artists, very sad. Imagine all the great music we would have had if they had lived longer. Blessings, Rhonda xx

Ah! The 27 Club! The list is so long. But here googleblaster brings you to the reincarnation of the local bar at the end of the universe, 27 York St, (Zaphod Beeblebrox) best dance club and concert venue closed... new owners reopened it as The 27 Club. Great write! Good luck in the contest, xomo!

Funny, I was watching a show about how many celebrities died at 27, and that's what gave me the idea - (and you can use near-rhymes, they're fun too!)

They sure were classic burnouts. Oh, well... Fame and fortune are a bit much for some... It's tough to handle without solid values.... Easy for me to say, but I should know! (Ha, ha, ha, ha: I've got the values; where's the fame and fortune?) ~ Waiting for my ship to come in...
