Kennedy

KENNEDY There was a man So strong a man A man so brave and free A famous man , A courageous man A man named "KENNEDY." This important man, this kind man A man SO GENEROUS AND BOLD We will never see any man like HE This man named "KENNEDY." I wrote this poem because "THE KENNEDY FAMILY" AND "THE WHOLE WORLD" have suffered a great loss and I think "PRESIDENT JOHN FITZGERALD KENNEDY" was the worlds greatest "PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ *Written November 22, 1963 on the day of President John F. Kennedy's assassination! (Age 12) First poem I'd ever written.* WTA-IV 5/26/2016

Although my view of JFK is different than the average American of the time (I was two), there is no questioning the influence and tragedy of the Kennedy family, in particular his assassination. It was an obviously profound event for you and your mother, as well as millions of others. Your poem relays that feeling of importance and loss, and the story behind it is beautiful.

This has brought tears to my eyes. I remember that day too. I was 11 and it rained and rained, like heaven was crying.... I love your poem.......

Another thing to thank JFK for: because of him, you discovered your writing ability! I was alive, too, but just 7 and I, too, learned 'assassination' that day. Unlike you, I became bored with the coverage but grew up with the significance. I cried when John, Jr. died, I think I cried for Carolyn and the overall "Kennedy sadness." I am especially impressed that you wrote this when only 12 - it is worthy of a grown man. Thanks for sharing it ... CayCay

Walter, I was only 6 but will always remember that horrible day! I still think there were snipers on the grassy knoll behind the fence btw!:( Nice poem about Kennedy at such a young age!
