Just a Breath Away

Just a breath away from knowing you Just a breath away from wanting you I'm Just a breath away from seeing you Just a breath away from holding you Just a breath away from believing you I'm just a breath away from life with you I'm just a breath away, just a breath away Just a breath away from losing you Even when you're near I'm still a breath away from you 01/22/2022

To be in constant worry of loss for a love so wanted, to be so physically close yet still feel an emotional distance or block of some kind... The constant state of his loves anxiety can be felt. A state many have known. Wonderful James.

Thank you, it's strange how you can feel so comfortable in a long term relationship to wake up one morning, having it disappear and realizing maybe it was never really what you thought it was.

A lovely way to express a longing for the closeness of another... This poem is so beautiful in it's simplicity... Well penned, James!

The breath..? A lot of true scenes you Invoke for me James.' Carnal love unrequited, Platonic love, that can mean so much.' Fillial love, yet they are all under threat, each can Be taken away or lost, love in sincerity I say if You lose a love you do not lose your integrity if You retain your integrity, the capacity for love Remains with you.'

Interesting comment Joe. You've related my poem to a personal experience. I'm flattered for that. I believe that for the most part our personalities do not change much after becoming adults, before that we are in the process of developing that personality. As to when we each as individuals become "adults", who's to say. We all mature differently and that is not to say that we do not grow. We do grow with each experience we have, even after our personalities are set. I do not know what may have caused the anger, but I am happy that you have been able to grow through your religion. The church was a kind gesture on your part and I've read your poetry and I'm happy you found your voice.

Hi again James, what if I said I matched 80 percent of the Person you allude to 30/40 Years ago.? Yet in Christ fully' Probably just before I started To write I began to change I was Even too angry to write.' Although I knew I was cut out for it.' I Refused because I judged God To an extent. For things I saw That were wrong, so why should I write for Him at that point.? I had a church given to me and two pastors offer me inheritance of their ministry, this was just from occasional visits As I was fascinated by what happened around Me if I visited such places, the church I gave Away to a Church that needed a worship place at this Point I was walking with God' I must add.'

Hi Joe, you have offered such complexity in your response to my poem. I very much enjoy your interpretations. The person that is the subject of this write would, in my opinion, not have the ability to be happy in any truly loving relationship. Perhaps moments of happiness but the inability to believe that someone could love him/her, regardless of what kind of love, would likely destroy any loving relationship he might have. Always remaining a "breath away" from being loved in his own mind. Also, likely to ruin relationships between him and the people he loves most, parents, friends and mates. How can he love me?

A poem of shyness i wonder? Poetry to make one think about so much in life and the chances never taken, this is how i read this gem.

Interpreted quite nicely Harry. I would say it is about fear and lack of self worth. Shyness? Yes, but deeper. It touches lightly on the same issues as the poem Borderline Love, by Silent One that I read earlier tonight. Thanks for the visit.
