An angel told Zechariah, “Fear not,” and said his aged wife would bear a son. They were to name him John. He would bring joy to many. Through him, God’s work would be done. Filled with the Spirit even in the womb, in God’s eyes he would be considered great. He’d turn the hearts of many back to God and make paths for the coming Savior straight. John had his own disciples, whom he told the Son of God, Messiah, would arrive to save mankind from sin. John’s words were bold. The world has kept his memory alive. Luke 3, John 1, and other Bible passages

This is a wonderful tribute to John the Baptist, and very well deserving. It was a terrible ending that he faced here in this world, and heart breaking, but imagine his reward in heaven. Goodness, someday we'll meet him, that's quite the thought. I'm so glad you wrote this poem. The sadness of this world affecting their lives, and yet the faith to endure, knowing all the time there is a divine hope at the end of it all. God bless you, I needed this reminder of John. <3

BJ, I am moved by, and appreciative of, your response to the poem. Yes, he--and so many others--have paid the ultimate price for following Jesus! There was an error. I fixed it. Janice

Yes, he was such an inspired man of the lord. Too bad how he got killed after all his good deeds.
