Second Place

Free romance lovers couple illustration

I must have rehearsed a thousand times, but the words just floated away; if you only knew how much I loved you, how much I wanted you in my life. Each moment we shared is a memory, to cherish forever and ever; did you even suspect the depth of my love, would we have had a future I wonder. My heart, soul and spirit hurts now, for one day you went out the door; and you did not return to me, at your funeral I wanted to hold you to my heart. I can still remember your kiss and caress, your sweet voice whispering; that smile and laugh, I cherished, my love for you was and is boundless and vast. Wait for me at Heaven's Gate, dear I will be the girl with tears; running, running into your open arms, until then, my tears will wash your cold stone.

Your poem all but brought me to tears. Your poetic voice drew me into your loss, your grief and your yearning for your dear husband. The last verse grabbed my heart especially the last two lines. I feel in my heart that your poem is a masterpiece fitting of a 1st place placement in the contest. Wishing you a pleasant evening, hugs, Sara
