If I Stayed
The more I care,
The less I show it.
The more I want to be around you,
The less you know it.
It's not like I mean to.
I just don't know what to say,
I don't know what to do.
because, god, look at you.
I can't stop.
And that's the problem.
I have so many feelings -
I can't focus them.
I can't control them.
So I stutter and walk away,
So I shrug, look down -
We're shrouded in silence because
I have so much I want to say.
But I can't speak.
I can barely move,
because, god, look at you -
You're smiling at me and
I'm short circuiting.
I want to ask -
I don't know what I want to ask.
I care, god, do I care -
I want to be here, I swear.
I just don't know how to tell you,
to ask you to stay.
Because, god, look at you,
You're walking away.
And because I care,
because I want to be around you,
I turn around,
go the opposite way,
Hoping that I can do this another day.
