If I Have the Time

IF I HAVE THE TIME If I have time, I'll spend it with you Time is an asset with value to spare But it's worthless to me if you are not there So just know I want you to be there too I'll schedule my time to coincide with yours We can frolic in the forest neath the stately trees Spending time together for as long as you please Or we can wade in the surf on foreign shores Having you with me is my greatest pleasure You make me happy when we're together I'm content with you, no matter the weather If I have the time, you will be my treasure 6 January 2020 For the contest sponsored by Tania Kitchin

I hope you don't mind that I read your reply to Jan, and I'm saddened to hear of your breakup, Curtis. I feel the sincerity of each word in your lines, so this must have been difficult for you to write.

I'm glad to hear your life is becoming more r. Time will take care of the healing. I attended classes for the loved ones of those who are addicted. It helped ME to understand, but the one who needed the help refused to accept it. Thank you for reading more from me, Curtis.

You have been on my mind recently. This is the only source of contact I have access to. I just wanted to let you know that everything is moving forward somewhat quickly but still on a friendly agreed upon level. Thanks for your concern. It is deeply appreciated.

Lin, I read your poem on drowning. The last stanza truly tugged at my heart strings. On the 11th of January, I will celebrate 38 years of sobriety. I teach a course that lets the students know how to overcome their problem. It is a program called Celebrate Recovery. It helps the spouses and children of a person with an addict see a change in people who attend the meetings. It is highly confidential and uplifting. More to come....

Lin, thank you for sharing. I will take a look at your earlier poems and offer any advice or suggestions as I see fit in the hopes that it will help you understand. I too am sincerely concerned. Look for more Soup Mail from me.

Thank you, and I understand the difficulty of writing with a wounded heart. Many of my first posts in PS were composed at a time when my world was tumbling down. I found it helpful to write about it, and I hope it has the same effect on you. Sincerely concerned.

Lin, I'm not upset that you read my reply to Jan. I appreciate your care and concern. I have come to value your input, but moreover, I value your friendship. It was difficult to write, but the outcome is amicable at this point.

Thank you, Jan! I agree, but she has chosen to no longer be my partner. It should be effective by the end of February.
