I Don'T Recall

A dark void now envelops my saddened shrinking heart that once was so filled with declarations of your love. I don't recall when your passions evanesced... slowly, but surely, or when that spark left your eyes. I was working too hard to notice. Like the burden of a cut dying rose As it struggles to hold up its head and its once vibrant beauty fades, Our love has wilted, faded away. It is sad when a couple once so in love slowly drifts and grows apart. It's even sadder when each of them still has love left in their hearts. 3-12-20

"It is sad when a couple once so in love slowly drifts and grows apart. It's even sadder when each of them still has love left in their hearts." Some of the most meaningful and perfect lines of poetry I have ever read. Love never changes. If it is not given, accepted by others, then it remains sadly in our hearts, orphaned. We are double minded--having power to create a world of beautiful passions, or destroy all examples, in a moment of ill guided thought. Wonderful writing Connie!

I am touched and can feel the depth of every line. I also don't recall when and how an abloom rose gets wilted. Hugs.

Hi Connie, beauty can be found within such sadness. Such beautiful words describe the pain of sadness. So many times, a love can fall by the wayside, it does bring great pain. This is such an excellent write Connie. I am glad that you did find your special love. I love the content of this write, the true emotion. Stay safe, my friend. Have a wonderful Saturday. Hugs....Mike. XX

Beautifully written Connie. Sadly most do not feel that spark slipping away before the damage is done. Hugs

A gorgeous write of sadness, Connie. Takes me back to the college girlfriend who made wedding plans with me, then broke it off. For the best I see now, but at the time, my first real broken heart. Nice to have words to help with the healing. (Reading below, I'm glad to know this isn't about your husband!)

So sad, Connie. Neglected love dies a slow death. Alas, many are those who take love for granted. ~ Regards // paul

So sorrowful and heartfelt, it is tragic when love dies, no wonder we mourn it-

Hi Connie No matter how long you have been married, There is always a lost love that you recall. You have elaborated this prose very succinct....Ralph

I am told a blue pill rejuvenates the wilt, but have never forgotten a Viet Nam "conflict" victim's last letter to his lady love, "Like a bar of Ivory soap in the tub, you keep fading away until there is nothing left to touch!" Aloha! Rico

Eloquently expressed sadness Connie. If people put the effort into their existing relationship the way they did in the beginning, their rose would not wilt.

Many can relate to the declaration of love you speak of--one that fades. Loved the metaphor of cut drying rose. Your write is true to life, Connie. So well written, as always.

It is so sad when that happens Connie, especially when love is still there but the flames have died down. Tom

So many of us let work get in the way causing marital problems. This is not about my husband but about someone in my youth. Thank you Tom. xxoo
