Hyacinth and daffodil bloom on yonder verdant hill Though roses struggle to emerge thorns impaled on concrete's dirge

I really like this BB….the ones that are free bloom on the yonder hill and the one that struggles the poor rose is restricted in the graveyard! Debx

Are the roses trying to grow through a grave-stone? I'm thinking this is sadder than it first appears, as the first flowers celebrate the time of 'greening' and other flowers (the roses) struggle to even bloom in the face of death and grief - Nature's paradox of joy and grief in the same image.

Yeah, I think you're right -- the face of a clown, so to speak, Jeanette.
