Hope

My wife and I live in Northern California in a modest ranch home on two and a half acres. Every morning I try to walk the property through the park like setting in the field, the immense granite out cropping’s, the large pond with geese, ducks and other creatures that we share this Earth with and I lose myself in the peace and tranquility that is the gift we have been given. However, my morning sojourns are just that, temporary escapes from the outside world teaming at times with an ugliness that shatters my world to its core. Unfortunately, I have concluded that I cannot change that other world and so I pray at times, although I am not a deeply religious person, and I stare blankly into the universe that is our home and I ask simply that whatever power or powers that govern the endless vast reaches of space will someday find us, lost as we are in the cosmos, and place a blanket of human kindness over this Earth and replace the clouds of smoke that result from our inability to live peacefully with love as our guiding light. I ask that you all join me in this journey of hope.
