Heat Relief
Summer heat was getting oppressive
the humidity hung heavily in the air
the breath was starting to labour
as the heat brought on sweat
it started to soak into clothes
feeling similar to a wet rag
draining all your energy
as you tried to find comfort
under a shaded umbrella
even the ants were not crawling
nor were the birds chirping merrily
no frog or cricket song was heard
the stifling heat caused stillness
as all creatures headed to find shade
the sun rays beat over the land
evening finally brought relief
as the sun's orb sank on the horizon.
