He Is a Rock In the Ocean of Life

15th March , Can you remember this day “What?” he asked “why today?” Our wedding anniversary, He has forgotten as usual, I laughed. Heard these questions thirty six times in the past Like a peacock he never danced in the rain No love songs sung no poems delivered No chocolates or flowers for any birthdays Candle light dinners? I cannot remember any dates He is a Rock in the ocean of life He never wipes my tears or cuddles me when I am in fear But taught me how to hold them back and to be brave instead Lift me from my fall and kept on an elevator Paved my path not with gold but with fine sand Showed me how to cast off the thorns in my path He is a man of principals, and a walking encyclopedia Romance is not in his blood, pettiness is his enemy Gave me everything I need in this material world plus Security, strength and wisdom a woman to sustain

To answer your question about Haiku 30... you are technically correct. Haiku is supposed to be about nature and seasons... when the poem refers to modern day stuff like computers, radios, human issues etc... it should be called "senryu"... though for reasons unknown I always just label them Haiku even if they are leaning more towards Senryu... I'm stuck in my OCD ways, at times... hahaha...

Not what young girls dream of but I feel your love none the less. There is an odd beauty to these words, I will ponder them. Thanks for sharing. Your poetic soul has probably touched him in ways that are beyond his ability to express. It sounds like his love language is acts of service and by providing for you and your family he is expressing that love. It is great that you recognize that and love him all the more.

I really enjoyed this unorthodox love poem. Romance is a spark to some, but many just aren't built that way. I know my dad has never once remembered a specific holiday (he forgets everyone's birthdays including his own). Your husband seems to have things in pretty good condition though... we all have different ways of showing our affection. Heartfelt write!

It is a sad truth that although a romantic heart may elevate our spirits, an empty stomach can throw us in despair! Beautiful writing with a strong message!

and in this world we turn to security, a man who is in such tact with his principles tends to not know how to express such romance but I'm sure it's there and a surprise he will give you, enjoyed your write p.d.
