I know that many of you reading this note have experienced a loved one who has suffered from Alzheimer.  Losing someone to Alzheimer and/or dementia is a slow lonely road to travel.  The heart cries out – “where are you”  . . . . “come back to me” . . . . . “take me with you!”  It’s a lonely, lonely road to travel – actually two roads:  One is a downward journey into the vastness of the mind, the other a lonely hard packed gravely road, a survivor’s road.  Both must be travelled – but at last -- not together.

Live Generously,

David

eyes empty dark pools where are you my darling love a lonely j o u r n e y To all who have been touched by Alzheimer -- To the weary travelers – take heart – love still abounds David Meade

Thank-you for sharing about your father and support groups. You know first hand the many "mini" deaths you go with this disease. Without support groups the trip would be unbearable. All the best and your poems are awesome which gives wittiness to your great talent.

I am sorry to hear about your mother. It is a cruel disease for all involved . . . I have travelled this road many times with family and friends . . . your not alone but the pain and isolation is crushing. You will survive -- not unscathed -- but with love. Be strong and courageous with love and hugs.

Hugs, love, tears of prayers -- they all help especially for the care takers . . . all the best.
