Guardian of the Season

Oh, scarecrow with your watchful gaze guarding autumn’s harvest season - hanging down o’er golden maize. Oh scarecrow with your watchful gaze; fraying, flapping straw under blaze of pumpkin sky in full season. Oh - scarecrow with your watchful gaze, guarding autumn’s harvest season.

Christina, it's insightful that you animate the scarecrow with fraying and flapping. That should work a lot better than being static. You also picked a couple of totally different crops. You have taken me to the fields, which is something I enjoy!

Hello Christina Bowring, The scarecrow watches but nothjing happens in the field where he is tied to a post, to scare the birds away from the planted seeds. Hugs. /Darlene/

I love to see a scarecrow and often wonder if they really worked but they are charming and your title is perfect. They take their role seriously wether they fool the birds or not. lOl Enjoyed reading this fun Triolet. Hugs, SuZ

I like the triolet form. And this one's theme resonates with me Christina...for a different reason, I suppose. Back in my acting days, I was fortunate to be able to play the Scarecrow in a stage production of "The Wizard of Oz". It was great fun.

I sincerely loved this poem--the rhyme scheme didn't seemed forced...and you beautifully captured the image of a scarecrow...like the one I used to see in my great aunt's corn field. Am faving this one. Enjoy your afternoon, Sara

Chis I love your new poem. I like scarecrows too. You don't see them anymore in the crops. Now there are new ways. But there is something mistic about scarecrows. And for sure, they used to be or they are the harvest guardians. Very intelligent writing. I loved it. Good evening my friend Christina. Love. Maríaxxxx
