Great Escape

A little thatched cottage tucked away. Happy memories from happy days. Full of atmosphere and charm. Children playing safe from harm. Warm and cozy inside thick walls. Outside let the blizzard storm. Bog oak beams, flax and turf. Kettle singing on the hearth. On quiet nights clear skies. No sound of traffic or passers by. Deep sleep in a safe haven. In Fanad this little piece of heaven.

That’s so nice of you to say Maria. Part of the joy of writing poetry is the pleasure it can bring to others.

Sounds like a wonderful place to get away from it all. I enjoyed your poem, Jean! Blessings, Kim M

Hi Kim. Time seems to stand still on that little peninsula. It is only 6 klms across in width. Sea on all sides. I love it. Thank you for your blessings.

I remember cottages like that Jean when I went to Ireland as a child now most have slated roofs but have lost some of their charm. Hope you're keeping well. Tom

Hi Tom. I'm recently retired and loving it. More time for poetry. This cottage now belongs to my X husband but it really is special. Nice to see you again.
