Gold Could Not Be So Lovely
A melting river, a tree's return
A respite from the winter's burn
Where thin leaves capture the sun's might
To briefly hold the weight of light
An elusive bloom in a fragile berth
And the heavens envy the warmth of earth
Even as day falls to gray and languishes there
Gold could not be so lovely, were it not rare
