Free Verse Fever

FREE VERSE FEVER Alas, and alack, there is a lady for whom I have formed an attraction. She has an aura about her that leaves me aching to have her in my arms. I am astounded that I have become so enamored with someone I have never met but she holds me spellbound and singing an aria of admiration yet reluctant to announce my avid desire to her. Should I let her know my feelings and be rejected it would fill me with anguish and apprehension that would not be easily abated. She has no idea of the absolute feeling of helplessness my avarice thoughts create within me knowing she can never be mine. It is absolutely astonishing that we talk with each other about activities in our life and she is unaware that she is, in actuality, the answer to all of my aspiration to make her an appealing part of my life. She is so alluring, and attractive that I lie awake at night with thoughts of her on my mind and go to sleep hoping those thoughts will cause my dreams to be awash with the authenticity of reality. Amen! Attraction 12 January 2020

Being enamored by someone is one thing. Falling in love is something entirely different. At this point in my life, I honestly have no desire to find 'another' companion. I have resolved to be content with traveling - hopefully in the capacity of tour escort - with a local tour company. Details for you on Soup Mail when I find out.

I agree with Lin, it is a dilemma but as far as I am concerned it far better to hold her in your dreams especially if it is an internet attraction and not someone you have physically met. I'd classify this more as a narrative than free verse:-) hugs Jan xx

A 'what if' can go either way. Tell her and if she doesn't feel the same he will wonder what if he'd not spoken up. Or..what if he never tells her and misses the chance at having a meaningful relationship, unless he already has one that would be compromised. In either scenario, Curtis must make the choice.

the thing is if you do not tell her, you will never know... and you will always wonder, what if.... we have all been here, i was when i was younger... and there are many that got away... and i guess i will always wonder, what if..

WOW! I am overwhelmed by the genuine concern I have been receiving from 'genuine' friends. People whom I have never met are showing me the genuine feeling they have for me and I am honored, flattered, and grateful. I will follow my heart and see where it leads me --- and the three of you will be the first to know. Blessings to all!

excuse the intrusion, Silent One, but Curtis, that's exactly what I wrote to you almost an hour ago. You're at the crossroads of having a 'what if' moment that you may one day regret.

There is a saying, only speak when what you have to say is better than silence.. so happy you appreciated it my friend.. that is what friends are for..

For one who dubs himself Silent One, you know when to 'speak up' and give such sage advice. Thank you for sharing and encouraging me in this dilemma. Not only are you a great poet and greatly admired by other poets, you are wise in the issues of life. Thanks again!

Hello Curtis, if this is true, like Lin says only you can decide. we can not tell you how to decide. It is up to you. This poem has feelings written in words.I sense that youhave feelings for her even thought you never met her. have a nice day my friend.

Hello Curtis, everyone fears rejection, I suggest that you get to know this person well. Don;t scare her away. Take slow. have a nice day my friend.

Thank you, Darlene! Feelings often create anxiety and confusion because the one person who has those feelings fails to voice them for fear of rejection.

Fiction or reality? Only you can decide how best to move on. A heart is a treacherous thing. Dream on.

I will probably never meet her, but if I should, I would hope she could discern my feelings intuitively. Thanks for stopping by and for your great advice.
