Flamingo

Flamingo (Paintings by Patricia) Fairest flamingo of my memories, oh, I loved watching you from cool shadows reflecting your beauty in pink and rose, gracefully wading beneath tall palm trees. Fairest flamingo of my memories, your long bill traced ripples in sun-laced pools. Slowly, you drew water colored jewels that artfully danced with a flowing ease. Fairest flamingo of my memories, when I see you, I am nostalgic still for times I’d pray for one pink-feathered quill to float to me on a delicate breeze. Sometimes, I can feel my summer dress blow in pink-ruffled dreams of a little girl waiting for butterfly wings to unfurl and the bright-winged flight of my flamingo. Fairest flamingo of my memories, how you charm my dreams on a delicate breeze! Written - 7/11/20 Contest - Bird Poetry Sponsor - Constance La France

Thank you, John. My dad would take me to see the flamingos in a park near Hialeah when I was a little girl. I've loved them ever since.

This is breathtakingly beautiful, Rhonda!.. Just love how you used "Fairest Flamingo of my memories" to open the stanzas. And 'the pink ruffled dreams of a little girl' honestly made me cry, as I thought of my (now over 40-something) daughter as the little girl who still wears her tutu and ballet shoes in the recesses of my heart and mind. Thank you for the memory and the thrill! Warmest wishes, Gershon

Rhonda, Enjoyed this flame-lit flamboyance by the pools. The best of 'pink-ruffled' dreams and your 'pink-feathered quill' riding breeze. Very imaginative write. -Richard
