Fall Splendor

Next to Spring, Fall is my favorite time;
multicolored leaves confetti the ground.
And Autumn’s splendid changes are sublime,
I enjoy every color, smell, and sound.
Wrapping Summer’s dead in a colored shroud,
Autumn weaves tapestries not meant to last.
Yet, using every color She’s allowed,
Autumn’s artistic skills are unsurpassed.
Gold, orange, and amber adorn the trees
as green leaves morph into colorful art.
Yet, mosaics crafted by a brisk breeze
all get inevitably blown apart.
The flowers have all died and gone to seed,
awaiting the kiss of Spring to awake.
And as an Autumn sunset starts to bleed,
fog forms on the warm waters of the lake.
