Wherever there are national, democratic elections, regardless of the country, the candidates make promises, omit anything controversial and go to any lengths to win. The electorate has to judge their trustworthiness. Each vote cast is a leap of faith which may or may not be good for the country. Every country needs one or more reliable leaders.
Vote for me,
That's what I say.
I have all the answers,
My plan is the way
To solvency
For the country.
No tax rises,
Get rid of sleaze,
Protect essential services.
I don't really want to be in power
But vote for me please.
You shouldn't grumble,
My views are right
Of course.
I'm really very humble,
I just want to serve.
Vote for me please.
Now about
This election, they say
Every vote counts.
We'll vote of course,
Even though it amounts
To nothing.
Legend has it that
King Arthur will fight
Once more to restore
Our ancient (not human) rights.
In the face of modern political tyranny
That would work for me.
