Easter

Ave Maria I hear the cries, the ties that bind. I recall it all when Easter comes. His suffering upon the cross our Great and humble loss endured for us. Ave Maria How she must have suffered too at his feet. The tears she shed as her son bled. Then as He dies the darkened skies revealed Mourning fears mingled with anguished tears. Ave Maria Laid to rest beyond the stone mourners moan. In disbelief instilled with grief as He appears First before Mary's eyes to see our Lord arise. Ave Maria Rejoice this blessed day as we pray...He lives! As His disciples too bear witness to His wounds. Jesus died to wipe our sins away. With the Grace of God he rose from this sod into Heaven.. Ave Maria Amen! April 17, 2022 *Note: I got bronchitis and didn’t get this poem entered in time for Regina’s contest but wanted to post it for Easter anyway. Happy Easter to Everyone! Hi Connie, such a beautiful piece that does show the depth of your Faith. I used to get sad around Easter when I was little. I always seemed to forget that the Lord rose from the dead on the third day. Now, that is what I remember. You catch the sadness and the joy, the suffering then the rising. This is an excellent write. Have a wonderful evening. Hugs always ..... Mike. XX

I watched the Passion Play for years on one of our South African TV stations but for a few years now they don't seem to have put it on. The inhumane pain suffered by our Lord brought tears to my eyes every Ester and his Mother at the foot of the cross watching His suffering broke my heart. What a hearT felt warm touching Easter poem - hope you had a wonderful Easter with you near and dear, Hugs and blessings, Jennifer.

Thank you Jennifer. I can’t imagine what it must have been like to see her son suffer so terribly. I lost my son less than a year ago and I know how painful it is not to be able to help save them. Easter affected me deeply this year because of our loss. Thank you. Blessings xxoo

Thanks for the info below. My dad's second wife is very Catholic. My dad did not care about religion but she got him to masses and got him a Catholic funeral. I am still in touch with her. She was ex nun from Philippines whom he got out of a pen pal magazine in the 80s haha

They were probably destined to meet. My brother in law was lost without his wife of twenty years and he met a younger woman online from China. They married and have a son who is nine now. His other children are grown and his daughter gave him three grandchildren, one who is older that his young son.

Dearest Connie, your poem makes me all-tearful, and I want to read it again and again. Mother's love and mother's grief and anguish - portrayed with so much empathy and faith - This poem is unique and outstanding with its symbolism in poetic language. This definitely goes to my faves, Dear Connie. Love and blessings ~ Mala

Oh Mala, thank you so very much. My words could never do justice to the Lord’s suffering, nor his mothers. I shared Easter with my granddaughter and she warmed up chicken soup for me. Her Mommie had to work. I am honored and humbled by your fave. I was very touched by your comment dear friend. Thank you again. I hope your Easter was a blessed one. Love Connie

Dearest Connie, the empathy you write with makes this account of the suffering Savior even more potent and poignant. You understand better than most what Mary went through watching her beloved son die. Your words capture so touchingly the extremes of despair and joy between good Friday and that first Easter Sunday. Mary's words to the angel are some of the most humble words in all Scripture: "may it be to me as you have said". Thank you for writing and posting these faith-saturated words. A Fav

Connie, thank you for sharing with me about your mother. The legacy we have received from our faithful mothers is immeasurable and a treasure to be ever grateful for. My mother crossed over on April second, which was her and my dad's anniversary. She was a Bible student and teacher, and passed along her love for God to her children every day. Thank you for kindling these warm memories, my dear friend. Hugs ~ John

Thank you so much for your most wonderful comment John and for honoring my poem with a Fave. My mother was a Bible scholar and she died on April first on Good Friday. She chose an unforgettable day to cross over. After losing my son, I have great empathy for Mary and how she must have suffered along with Jesus. Blessings xxoo

That was great that you posted this one in spite of missing the contest. Do you have Catholic background, Connie. I always feel like Ave MAria feels like a Catholic thing. Probably I don't know what I am talking about. Beautiful poetry, and thanks for leaving that robbery story at my narrative!

My husband was Catholic and the song Ave Maria held a special meaning between us. He was excommunicated from the Catholic Church when he got a divorce from his first wife. I was never a Catholic but I did attend mass with my mother-in-law at different times. Thanks Andrea. Blessings xxoo

When I think of Mother Mary, my heart burns ! How much of suffering she had to go through silently from the moment of conception to His birth in a manger and finally when His torn and wounded body was lain in her lap ! Touched by your splendid write Connie !

Thank you so much Evelyn. It is always a super challenge writing anything about Jesus as I never feel I can do justice to His story. I was raised on his word, still I struggle to find the words to write. I feel very honored that you faved this Easter poem that also tries to look through His mother’s eyes. Easter Blessings love Connie xxoo
