We were baseball and hot dogs, peanut butter and jelly, sharing moments that lasted until the end of my dream. But upon waking, there's an ache deep within my belly. Dreams are not real, although that's the way they seem.

Lin, I just made an attempt to explain in a poem what I said below. However, it didn't exactly work out that way. Thanks for getting me going!!

Lin, thanks for writing this. I'm agreeing with Erich Fromm, author of The Forgotten Language, which is one of my favorite books, and agreeing with you. Dreams are our own creations that reflect our mind's attempt to connect the dots. My own belief is that we have a filing system that gets updated while we're asleep. The different folders relate different experiences and dreams are a byproduct of the brain classifying them for us. All rather remarkable and spectacular. You are inspiring me!!

One day we will awake and discover that we have been mere participants in the dream of a butterfly who, at this moment, is fast asleep on a temple bell ( image courtesy Buson ). An engaging poem Lin...like.

Ah many can empathize with dreaming and the longing that likely inspired the dream/ Love this and the picture!

Sometimes when I wake up I, wish that many of my dreams were real...so disheartening when they aren't. I try to go back to sleep and recapture them...doesn't happen. Drats. Loved this poem. Have a great evening,. Sara

Dear Lin, you really encapsulate the bittersweet essence of longing and disillusionment. The scenes of shared moments fading with the waking dawn evokes a sense of yearning and loss. Your words speak with the universal experience of clinging to ephemeral dreams, only to confront the stark reality of their transient nature. A wonderful heartfelt reflection. - Blessings, Daniel

From the first few moments you start to wake up they seem so real then as you come round realise that yes that's all it was, a dream. Tom

And reality sets in... that's a good thing if it was a scary one... a real bummer if it was a good one. Thanks, Tom. Have a wonderful weekend.

Very nice Lin, I wonder if this one’s about waking up to life in general, or from a dream per se, however it gets me thinking (not always a good thing) lol! But I definitely feel an abstract monoku could rub off from it, super little verse, cheers David

Thinking is usually a good thing, David. At the least, it lets us know we're still breathing~ I was thinking how close some couples get... like pb&j and the rest unfolded itself from there. Just a silly little ditty.
