Dreams
Nestled in
Sleepy patches of dream
Peering through tree trunk hair
Into night thoughts traveling
Reaching for that dream place
Eager to grasp those who are unattainable
In life
The lake is a mirror
I wave to my reflection, then dive under
Hands breach, unbroken form glides through tiny sparkling fireworks littering
The expanse, shore to shore
Ripples pulsing out from solid strokes lap at
Boys who hang from life vests, bobbing in the wake
Like buoys on the emerald sheen of water
They will never see the brilliance of stars as
They see them in this stretch of innocence
Clutch and turn, roll into wakefulness
The message fades with morning light
But lingers in the recess
Growing dimmer
With each remembrance
