Don'T Judge a Book
DON'T JUDGE A BOOK
I chose a book from the library,
the cover so appealing to me,
being a popular author,
on a best-seller's list was he.
The New York Times gave praise,
'A heart gripping thriller' they said,
and also a real page-turner,
I started to read it in bed.
Reading the first two chapters
it was never my kind of book.
So full of filthy language,
I was betrayed by the cover's look.
Don't judge a book by its cover,
this applies to humans as well.
The outside may not be attractive,
it's the contents inside that dwell.
Don't judge a book by its cover,
if only the well groomed to greet.
Whereas the ragged or homeless,
we give a wide berth on the street.
Don't judge a book by its cover
you may be deceived by it's looks.
People have different life stories,
so various, just as the books.
Don't judge a book by its cover
until some chapters you read.
Snap judgements are too hasty,
discernment is what we all need.
