Dialogue of Souls

Best of friends, for countless years, we had the best of times. Now as my eyes are filled with tears, your soul to Heaven climbs. The path we take, not always clear, I feel so lost without you here. Your last words, prophetic now, “I’ll be home soon”- you knew somehow. You left me here, I’m so alone, but I dreamed Heaven had a phone. We talked all night, you fell asleep, I held the line to hear you breathe… Copyright © 2013

This poem. Cole your words haunt me in a beautiful way. I've ready a lot of poems. have a lot of favorite poets. Frost, Neruda, Yeats, Eliot, Cummings, Keats, and Collins to name some of them. Each with poems I like. But this poem is my favorite of all time. Thank you for that. I have lost people in my life, a lot of people. Losing my grandfather some twenty years ago. I once dreamt that he called our house after he passed, just to talk to me. This poem will forever remind me of him.
