Death of An Angel
emerald green were her frantic eyes; short dark chestnut hair, soft as silk-
the beautiful in her knew not her beauty, which is why she was
so perfect for me
love sewn on my heartstrings with thread so delicate it could wither at any moment-
though she was as tender as an aria of light she always was breathless to me-
(yes, she was b r e a t h l e s s to me)
her heart, fathomless - like an incomprehensible milestone at death;
no time could save her from the silence she wore when dusk ascended
the baby birds weep when i think of her-
they too, remember her feeding them on her lawn in the heat of July-
reckless and restless - careless and infectious
all the life left in her eyes became none but a moment too soon
forgotten by some
-but-
i remember you, my sweet;
i know you know i would die just to preserve your heartfelt memory
~o, the aura of your essence and plethora of quintessence~
your grave calls me once again - - -
i sit on your bench and reminisce on why you chose this
i knew you wanted to stay (that’s the thing) and i could not find a
way to convince you;
convince you that you belonged home with me
YES, MY ANGEL-
home with me
