Dazed

Charlie’s Angels, Starsky and Hutch, Welcome Back Cotter, The Brady Bunch. I think I watched TV too much! Columbo, The Partridge Family, Lucille Ball, I must confess I viewed them all. Three is Company and Eight Is Enough. I really should turn off this stuff! A dazed look appeared upon my face. I worried, was I Lost In Space? My stomach yearned for a kitchen snack, but would I get The Love Boat back? The Newlyweds met on The Dating Game. She chose the dope, what a shame. Petticoat Junction, Sanford And Son, I just prayed for more reruns! To Dream Of being Jeannie, but not The Flying Nun, means living in a bottle would be much more fun! Carol Burnett was a Hollywood Square, Lawrence Welk danced on air. Pop culture began on The Ed Sullivan show, with music and comedians we used to know. Where did all the good ones go? “And that's way it is” Walter closed each day. Impartial, reporting in an unbiased way. My eyes are now coming out of my head. Did my family go to bed?? I should have played OUTSIDE instead!

This was so much fun to write. Ironically I didn't watch that much tv believe it or not, although I do admit to turning on the tube occasionally. I was a tree climber, a skater and a church school skipper. :) Just once. I'm sooo glad you liked it. Your comment was funny and made me laugh.

What a nice thing to say. I was a tree climber, a skater and a neighborhood kick the can player. I do confess to an occasional tube day during the snow or rain. :). :(

I am only 20. Ha, ha. I loved writing this and yet I really didn't spend all my time watching tv. My friend and I skated on her frozen pond, skipped church school one time to go swimming and hid inside a massive lilac bush away from the neighborhoood boys. I guess I was a fifth grade rebel. I aways forget to respond to compliments on my page. Sorry. I'm so glad you liked this one. Thank you for your nice and funny comment. :)

A wonderful trek down TV's memory lane. When I retired, I drove with friends to Jamestown, New York to tour the Lucy/Desi Museum + tribute theatre. What a joy! Thank you for re-kindling childhood romps through TV land. Such grand escapism. Be well. Brian

Your trip sounded like fun. Thank you for sharing that with me. I shall google this museum to learn about it. This poem was fun to write! I definitely dated myself. I'm glad you liked it. Thank you for your visit and praise. :-)

Hahaha! I see the 'Love Boat.' Did you stick around for 'Fantasy Island?' They used to be on back-to-back in Chicago. Too much of a 'good thing,' eh?! lol. Thanks for the memories, M.K.

Thank for the comment. Although it was hot that day, and I can imagine, it must have been very cool to have him there when you think back on it. You have lived so many places or traveled so many places it seems. Lucky duck :-)

Walter Cronkite was the speaker at my college graduation. All I remember is that nobody paid him any attention. We were all just talking amongst ourselves, itching to get out of those graduation gowns, as it was blazing hot that day. ~ Memories, gw

Gershon, you are hysterical. I just laughed and laughed and will for a while. You are so funny. Never thought of these two back to back. I thought it would be fun to rhyme JR and Dallas with something, or Gilligan meets The Love Boat. Walter Cronkite I will always remember. This was so much fun to write. TV used to be so good. Bedtime by nine in my house, but if you were lucky you got to watch Sonny And Cher. Tee hee!

Didn't we? Television is garbage now. We played kick the can, hid in trees, drank from the hose, rode in the back of our station wagons, built massive Barbie houses with cut magazines and tissue box beds. It was so wonderful.

I forgot to add a funny experience I had with Jeopardy. From the kitchen, I heard this game show in the living room. Very proudly, answering all the questions correctly, I boasted to my children "How do you think your ole' mom is doing, getting all these tough questions right? Mom, this is TEEN Jeopardy! :-( Tee Hee
