If this poem had five lines and no punctuation, it would be a Tanka. Haiku = Nature - 3 lines Tanka = Man and Nature - 5 lines Senryu = Man & Nature, ending with irony or satire. - 3 lines In all of these Japanese forms, you may use up to 17 syllables, but it is not required. That requirement is an American interpretation.

David, this form is Haiku, American style, with the 5-7-5 syllable count. The addition of the lamp lends a concrete element to the poem. Nice Work!
