Dangers of Drink

Beneath this broken piece of sod Lies one who thought that he was God Who drank too much And drove, and such, A man whose thinking was quite flawed.

Caren, I think, in his folly, he paid a harsh fee.

Quite a wonderful epitaph, Milt:-) Drunk drivers always recklessly---often tragically---violate the rules of the road. This poem would be a limerick if it weren't so sad, lol.

Indeed, Edward. I suppose that's why I decided to call it a eulogy. Limericks should be funny and a bit bawdy, I think. Thanks for the read and the fine comment. I appreciate you always.

He thought he was God, so he went and ruined his liver and his bod...

My father returned from WWII an alcoholic, who made me promise to never drink Scotch. I never did, but still enjoy Courvoisier! I think DNA will eventually enlighten us as to who inherits the gene which promotes addiction. However, I still believe it is habit more than addiction which makes it difficult for people to stop drinking, smoking, etc.!

It is a problem for many. It is so joyful to see one conquer the bottle. It renews the soul and puts that individual in control again and reverses the bottle in controlling them. Had a good friend that conquered the bottle, and stopped drinking. Anyone that can overcome their vise is someone I applaud and recognize as an achiever. It is very difficult to do. Thanks for sharing Milton...

I'm told that it is a very difficult addiction to overcome, so anyone who does is to be congratulated. I understand smoking is the most difficult addiction to overcome. I smoked for years, but I was able to quit easily following my open heart surgery. I detest smoking, of course, because of the role it played in Deb's death.
