Daddy Loved Us

Seeing my Daddy in black and white moves my emotional colors into a vibrant rainbow that was Daddy made decades ago. Only twenty-seven in the photo, Dad's patience had yet to grow. Daddy loved us My brother and I thought him old and always right with Dad powers. He was actually quite young with wife, career and two small tykes. Despite my flashbulb-face, I could easily visit the photograph for hours. I know it is from Fort Lee, Virginia and my tights have likely slid down. I love seeing Dad's arms around us while we are leaning on his knee. I love seeing us pressed against his chest and our heads leaning close. Daddy loved us Looking at the photograph, I can completely sense him, even his skin. My brother is four and years away from bipolar, he is still a happy boy. I am newly three and except for tights, nothing has ever bothered me. Daddy is not yet sixty-seven and gone, called back to live in heaven. This photo wilts my composure for I wish he had lived to be older but as an Army officer, a soldier, Agent Orange exposure finally got him. Daddy loved us ... CayCay September 27, 2019

He seems like a great dad and I'm sure he would be proud that you honored him in this poem. Poetic hugs, Juliet.

Daddy loved you both - a touching and creative write that moves the reader. I had never heard of the US forces using Agent Orange to clear forests so people couldn't hide and destroyed plant life so they couldn't eat - sad - sure it is still carried in the genes of people born after this horrific war. Sorry your Day died from this awful Agent Orange, my father died at 67 from cancer also an officer in the army until 45, when he was given a opportunity for a post in S.Africa. A fav Hugs Jenny.

This is such a wonderful poem that deserves to win something for certain. It is so sad, yet so good that you had such a wonderful love from your Daddy. It's intense and emotional and I love it. Bless you

oh my, Caycay. Agent Orange got him? That is so tragic. I loved this and I am secretly hoping that seeing I wrote of my own father helped inspire you to finally use a father picture yourself. I love the way you kept mentioning your tights. haha. And the way you brought up your brother's "coming" illness. I see my granddaughter faved it. So I will second that emotion!
