Cruel To Be Kind

How do you look into those eyes then sternly answer “No!” And at the time not realize you saved a mortal blow. When you are relied upon, protection may seem hard. If you give a melting moment, be careful when you drop your guard. For there are some you need to guide, and give protection from their mind. Sometimes it pays to be cruel, in this world to be kind.

Love is saying no, when you'd rather say yes. Your poem imparts its wisdom very well, Lindsay. Blessings, Evelyn

Hello Suzanne ... we can teach dogs many things, but when it comes to food, they stare us down until we give in on many occasions - thank you Suzanne - Lindsay

We have to be strict with teenagers, my son was loving and got around me. I was a single mom up To when Elias came into our lives Elias , but my son always respected and listened to his advice. I remember our dog snarled when Elias tried to take his bone, although Plato was loving and well trained he got a clout, was rewarded with a bigger bone and a romp on the lawn. Been cruel to be kind is practiced by those who think though a situation and not by those that don't understand Hugs/Jenn

Wisely written, Lindsay. Sometimes one needs to put their foot down and just say "NO" Children need to be taught, addicts need to be controlled, and Lord some people just need to be told right from wrong. Have a nice Sunday. Charlie

Hi Lindsay....This is so true especially with children . As parents we have a moral obligation to guide them. Sometimes we have to say a stern"NO". Even if it hurts them, it is done with concern and later they will know. Very analytically expressed,

Hello Valsa ... a really factual comment indeed. Without some discipline how would a child ever learn to respect - thank you Valsa - Lindsay

I agree. As a grandparent I have to say no a lot. But I do it with kindness. Very astute! Blessings xxoo

Very profound thought, Lindsay. So true: What looks to be cruelty at a glance may just be the greatness Kindness of all. Great write, friend. ~ Gershon

Hello Phyllis ... we both tested positive for this pest, but I had no symptoms at all. All good now though. It's a cruel world that could do with a lot more kindness - thanks Phyllis - Lindsay
