Crack of the Bat

Bat, ball, and glove, a sacred rite of spring Timeless afternoons of joy shared by all Everyone gets a chance to give a swing To meet the challenge: putting bat on ball. Stretch, windup, and pitch, a flaming fastball Hitter gives it flight with resounding crack Outfielder’s eyes wide, then pedaling back Jubilant bat toss, he breaks into run Pitcher’s shoulders droop, his jaw going slack Outfielder against fence, it’s a home run! 4/10/16

So is this poem. I must admit I quit watching baseball when they went on strike back in the 80's I think. Then they had the steroid debacle and that totally blew it with me. However I do love the poem. Peace my friend:)

Thanks, Daniel! I love the game, but greed and cheating totally take away from all sports...

Spring and baseball go hand in hand Tom...I coach my youngest boys team and a huge White Sox fan (I went to both games we had here this weekend)...are you a Tigers fan?

:-) nope. The image was just from the POV I was imagining. I'm from a multigenerational Red Sox fan family. It used to be a disease, then they won a couple times. I also coached until my son got old enough that the coaches were exclusively former HS/College/Pro baseballers. Absolutely loved it. Yesterday was his first game, which is where I started this one. (They won)
