Have you priced a roast or a stake lately,
or had to fill your tank with gasoline?
The cost of living has increased greatly,
and companies blame it on going green.
Corporations are raking in billions,
while some struggle to buy food and pay rent.
I recall when houses didn't cost millions,
and people valued coins, even a cent.
Greed sets the price we're all obliged to pay;
there are no limits or apologies.
Those in power view working folks as prey,
and bleed us using new technologies.
Costs rise, fueling the anxiety
prevalent in modern society.
