Cooking a Science and An Art

Cooking is a science and an art That allows you to have these two in one That when done just right is so smart It also can be so very fun You don't need tubes or brushes A pan or dish will do just fine You can serve a meal with fine touches Like a glass of your favorite wine Let's bake or broil but do not burn A dash of this and a pinch of that Get creative it's how you learn Just make sure it's lean not fat New recipes you try now and then Some will be your own creation If it's chicken, then use a hen When glazed it is a fascination Now for dessert what shall we do Perhaps you'll make something great I recommend souffle for you Don't let it fall for heaven's sake You'll have the neighbors over soon To show off your skills oh so true The date will be sometime in June For them you'll make something brand new For The " A Merger with Food Poetry Contest"

Charles, I like this a lot. The creativity you show with cooking applies equally to writing poetry, as far as I'm concerned. Good luck in the contest.

I agree with your statement. They both require creativity but also the rules are very important as well. When I learned the rules to structured poetry my poems became much better because I stopped using filler words and tried to make each word have a purpose. I truly believe though that the styles that are your favorites reflect your personality.

Hi Charles, yes this is great for the contest. The theme is food and activities merged. And cooking is a daily activity so it meets the brief. Hope this helps if you do decide to enter it. You asked me to let you know. All the best.

Such fun it would be to cook with you, Charles. Honey-glazed chicken breast, rosemary roasted potatoes, Ceasar salad, and souffle', of course! I'll bring a bottle of Chardonnay!

This poem reminds me of my husband who loved doing most of the cooking. He was creative and always made even the plainest food appealing. I enjoyed your poem very much Charles. I bet you are a terrific cook. Blessings xxoo
