We get lots of 'phone calls from people and organisations who are trying to persuade us to hand over money. Most of these calls are scams. It is better not to get involved in conversation as the person will try to bully you into giving them your hard earned cash. There is no such thing as a free lunch and if it sound iffy, then it probably is. We've got a 'phone with Caller Display and if we don't recognise the number, we never answer it. After all, the caller can leave a Voice Mail and if they don't, then it's not a genuine call!

Cold Calling Who's calling, please? ... But I'm certain I've never had PPI, That's final, no matter how hard you try. Who's calling, please? ... I won't be paying you any amount Or putting my money in a new account. You want to know my bank details right now? Which tells me that this is a fraud anyhow. Who's calling, please? ... I really don't want to do your Survey, Not today, tomorrow nor any day. I'm positive that I've not won a prize, I don't do raffles so what a surprise! It's part of a con to steal our money Which is very cruel and not at all funny. If you're sick of all this day after day, Then buy a new 'phone with Caller Display. With Caller ID, you'll soon become wise And just answer calls that you recognise. Cold Callers never behave as they should, Be warned! It's because they're up to no good.

My gosh it upsets me that no one commented. EVERYone can relate to this, at least in America I KNOW they can! Your humor is spot on, your creativity obvious because of the wit, the rhyme, the flow and it simply makes no sense. None! I thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated each stanza. On a lighter note, when I receive such calls, I've begun saying, "Let me know when you eat dinner and I'll call you back then to discuss it." Hang up. All the best ... CayCay (keep writing)

Thanks, CayCay. I think everyone receives Cold Calls these days and I like your suggestion of how to deal with them. Another idea is: don't replace your receiver and this keeps the line open so they can't make any more calls until you hang up.
