" UTTERMOST PAIN "

May be an image of 3 people, people standing and outdoors

The chain of death, Is growing, link by link, with each passing moment As the souls of the departed in Turkey and Syria Rush upwards to the heavens In search of peace and tranquility After the abominable experience Of being buried alive for days Under the rubble of hypocrisy, and indifference Of those who constructed unfit housing, just for profit, But At the same time, the souls exalt all rescuers who came to help, From so many countries, Risking, on many occasions, their own lives to save the victims of The 7.8 earthquakes on the Richter scale, Proving that it is not only Love that unites the peoples Of the world, but also, uttermost pain! © Demetrios Trifiatis 10 February 2023 - The powerful earthquakes of 7.8 on the Richter scale that shook Turkey and Syria on Monday have caused the death of more than 22,000 people up to now. There is fear that the number of victims will double or even triple when the final count takes place. Let us pray, and do whatever we can to help those left behind: The injured, the homeless, and the hungry. Blessings. -

Thank you for the insightful post. Tragedy does bring people together in times like these. I hope you're doing well my friend. My wife is recovering from shoulder surgery and two compression fractures in her back. Taking care of her has taken all my time, but she is progressing enough now that I'm getting back to reading, commenting and posting some poetry. Blessings, Bill

I am moved to tears each time I watch the efforts the rescue teams make to save lives. God forbid the repetition of such a tragedy. Blessings!

This simple word, my dearest Jo, includes 25,000 dead up to now, and the obliteration of 100, 000 properties. The world should pay more attention. Blessings!

A tragedy that saddens people all over. May they RIP. Amazing some are being pulled alive after such a long time. Gratitude to all volunteers of the world who are spending days and nights. Thank you my friend for writing this poem.

Yes, it is a tragedy of unimaginable proportions, my dearest friend, Vijay. I would never like to go through something like that. I have been once back in June 1990 in Iran when I was on the 12th floor of my hotel when after midnight a 7.4 earthquake shook the building, fortunately, it did not fall. Sixty thousand death was the result of it. It was a terrifying experience! God bless you for caring, my good friend.

Tragedy As you so eloquently articulated in your poetry, 50 news fatalities every minute are terrible. The Syrian civil war has hampered the delivery of vital supplies to rebel-held northwest Syria. The National Weather Service said cold and snow may bring "worsening and horrific situations" for survivors, many of whom are homeless. We can only pray for their safety and well-being. Welcome back dear friend Demetrios. Hope you doing well.

An enormous tragedy for us to witness but an unimaginable tragedy for those who go through it, my dearest friend, Lasaad. This is the reason I came back to write about it although I suffer from Covid-19. It is admirable that the pain of these people has managed to unite humanity and demolish the walls of indifference in our hearts thus the pain of these people united the rest of us. Be blessed!

- A terrible disaster ... watching this on the news brings me to tears ... - In a few hours we filled up a trailer with vital supplies ... it drove yesterday ... a couple called out for help on FB ... woow ... there really was a lot ... it shows that many people care - hugs

Yes, a horrendous disaster that the mind cannot conceive its magnitude, dearest Anne-Lise. You know the place very well so you can understand. I follow very closely the events. Greece was the first to respond and send there two rescue teams who saved many people. Although Erdogan threatens Greece with war for more than five years now, we did not hesitate to help and send aid and will continue to do so. We have nothing against the Turk people. God bless you. Hugs.

So heartbreaking to see Demetrios, cheap building materials used in their construction caused many to collapse with the first tremor. Those rogue builders should face justice. May those poor souls who perished Rest In Peace. Tom

Yes, it is, my dearest friend, Tom. I know that you have visited Turkey, therefore, you are more sensitive to their pain. I hope those who did not do their jobs as they ought to, would be punished, especially, the " rogue builders" as you coined them. Yesterday, one of them was arrested at the airport trying to escape. Blessings!
