a clever 'ditty' as Andrea calls this poem. I love being retired...best job I ever had :-)

Thanks Sara. Every morning when I wake up, I feel thankful that I'm retired. I love not having that alarm NOT go off.

It is freeing to be retired. I still work but only 16 hours a week because our social security isn't too great and my hubbie got injured on the job a few years before he wanted to stop working, so now he is kind of disabled and always feeling dizzy and aching. He had hoped to work into his 70s. People with pension plans have it so good! You are lucky if you had a great company with benefits. So few people have this any more. Love your little ditty

Thanks Andrea. I'm sorry to hear about your husband's injury, and situation. Yep, I'm very lucky. I had a well-paying job (though very stressful with long hours for year upon year, decade upon decade) good job and retired at 63 1/2. I'm 65 now, and have a pension so I'm set, especially given I don't have a large appetite for spending money. I tutor math at Mathnasium about 16 hours a week, but just for fun - they only pay me about minimum wage.
