Canine Perception

A dog is a knowing creature he listens and understands, he reacts to the sound of his Master's voice or the wave of his Mistress's hand, and when he is sharing their bedroon he has learned to understand more, he needs to know when to stay on the bed and when to retire to the floor. He remembers that when there were children and the house was filled with great fun, on Sundays soon after their dinner the kids took him out for a run, and when they returned sometime later his owners had always seemed flushed. If the children asked what was the matter they smiled, said nothing, and blushed. Still the bright hoound remembers the signals, he stored them for all of the years, that when the Master gets all excited and the Mistress just perfumes her ears, his place on the duvet is wanted, his owners are ready to fight, but then a change, for it happened just weekly when it used to occur every night. From weekly it moved to once monthly where it stayed for a number of years, and the Master for his inspiration just took in a couple of beers. Now the dog finds it hard to remember which night he should sleep on the floor, it's an annual event for the owners, they don't seem to fight any more.

Mike, have the makings of a topnotch poem here if you edit it carefully for spelling errors. 1st stanza, 7th line makes no sense. 2nd stanza, 1st line: remove "that" it's not necessary. 2nd stanza, 6th line: remove "had" and put a period after "flushed". Last stanza, 4th line: put a period after beers. Capital "N" on now. Just suggestions. Enjoyable read. /M
