Black Beauty
Black Beauty, my dear horse, I have for you
a place of leisure where no more you’ll toil.
A sugar cube I’ll give you – maybe two.
You’ll paw the ground for me because I’ll spoil
you like you so deserve! I’ve plenty of
nice apple slices, carrots, cubes of hay
and even some bananas, for my love
for you is boundless. In a field you’ll play.
Then if you get too hot, I’ll lead you to
cool water where we’ll splash! Then down a lane
I’ll ride you home, and so much more I’ll do:
I’ll scratch your withers, stroke and braid your mane!
Though "out to pasture," that's an awesome phase!
Black Beauty, to your heart’s content, you’ll graze.
