Birdsong

Conversing with people in houses I often pick up in the air The chirping of birds, Those avian words That make me feel like I’m right there. My early-morn walks by the river Provide me, as well, with the tweets Of the sparrow and jays, With their citified ways, In the branches of trees on the streets. But the biggest surprise in this lockdown Is how quiet my city’s become So from on the 9th floor I can now hear much more Of their song, without traffic’s harsh hum.

These days, Ilene, the first tweets I give attention to in the first light of dawn are those from that "vulture" in the White House! / M

The birds here are almost as loud as the roosters who crow loudly proudly and most of the afternoon which I had never truthfully noticed before. This should bode well in our poems, right Ilene? Is there any traffic now in New York?

we too have noticed how quiet it is and how loud the bird song seems, we manage to go walking nearly every day, today we didn't see a single soul on the 'daffodil walk' all the daffs have gone but there are now other beautiful shrubs in bloom - ts through an 'estate' which has public access., heard a peacock then looked over the wall hubby took a pic of it on the perfectly manicured lawn!:-) hugs jan xx

So interesting right! Funny how cities are empty.

Another upside to the downside. It's nice to hear 'tweets' being used in the original sense! Thanks for keeping your ear tuned to the positive side of lockdown, Ilene ~ John

It seems there are more hearses than taxis, but those city birds are finally getting a breath of fresh air. It will be time for you to sing when you get your chance at it! Another delight, Ilene! Aloha! Rico
