Beyond the Falls
Beyond the Falls
Your emerald eyes aren’t smiling
teardrops stain your face
your anguish grips me and we share
a final sad embrace.
The thundering silver waters
offer no reprieve
the fine mist wraps around us
time has come and I must leave.
The haunting echo of Niagara
says you’ll never leave my mind,
had we met much sooner I’d not
be leaving you behind.
Like two caged birds forced apart,
no hope, no chance to fly
I’ll yearn for you silently
until the Falls run dry.
I’m joyous for the time we had
days of just a few
you filled my life with wonderful
Niagara Falls with you.
