An Ocean of Stars
We cling to rocks in the oceans
like ants aboard a rotting corpse;
feeding off a decaying heart;
oblivious to its demise.
Warring over choice carrion,
contriving bigger colonies
on the disintegrating flesh;
slowly consuming the life raft.
Soon, all that will remain is sea;
blue sphere in an ocean of stars.
