An Altar Call
An old rugged book
Was the only thing I took
To the altar call
I craved emancipation
From chaos
I craved salvation.
I must answer redemption's
Call
I heard two voices in thin air
I heard them clear in my head.
I heard a third voice again
From the podium
My heart squeezed
I even sneezed,
For the sudden cold
That engulfed me.
Is my neighbour watching me?
Will he laugh to see me sing;
"I surrender all?"
God!
One step,
Two step
Three step
Four...
I was there
I did not fall.
Now, I'm glad I did
Answer redemption's call
