Americans

We share a thirst for freedom, yes we Americans do From North to South throughout the continent you can see the signs Our quest for living without the chains of oppression is ever present For as men and women we entered this world as innocents all No force whatsoever stemming from evil should block our path To remain free is not now or will in the future be without cost A lesson painfully learned by those of our kind that came before How do we maintain the cloak of freedom when so many would steal it? The answer is vigilance; for to stand down is to lapse into apathy To all those that would attempt to blind us via silken tongue or sword We say "not this day nor tomorrow as we will not be enslaved" Our strength is in our numbers and our resolve to stand shoulder to shoulder And the fire burning in our eyes as well as our bellies will be our defense For tomorrow and as long as good reigns over evil we will remain as free men

Interesting poem, Charles. I wonder, now, who is truly our enemy. In the end, I think it's our own division, and that our own government will be the greatest force against us, regardless of the party in power.

You make an excellent point. To maintain vigilance is to monitor the divide within us as it may represent our greatest enemy.
