May you soar on eagle wings, high above the madness of the world. ~ Jonathan Lockwood Huie American Spirit As eagle swoops at break of day, talons cling to wriggling prey. Having hunted and found his quest he soon returns to guard his nest. Shimmering cliffs that brightly shine from rust colored monoliths high, Create golden treasures within the sunset sky. The scent of autumn's in the air; chill of night falls fast. The eagle soars through clouded sky, his kingdom won in triumphs past. 6-2-20 ~First Place~ Spirit Animal Poetry Contest Sponsored by: Dear Heart https://www.spiritanimal.info/eagle-spirit-animal/ Isaiah 40:31 31 but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. For generations, Native American tribes have associated the Eagle with vision, wisdom, and strength. The predatory spirit animal symbolizes taking responsibility for one’s actions, healing nature and treading lightly as a matter of respect for Mother Earth.

"Having hunted and found his quest..." and the rest equals no nonsense purpose and accomplishment, and satisfaction. Congrats on your first place win.

Connie, congratulations on your win in my spirit contest with this beautifully penned poem. The eagle is well respected by the Ojibwe, as it reaches high in the sky to touch the grandfather spirit (God). An eagle feather is never taken but given, mine came floating down into my hand, and I love your images also _Constance

How wonderful the feather came to you in that way. A blessing, I would say. Thank you very much for my first placement in your contest Constance. My modem was not working for a few days until we got the service to come out to fix it. We had no internet or T.V. They still need to come back Monday to replace the cable. It is great to be able to communicate again. I enjoyed this contest and reading all the entries very much. Blessings xxoo

You have chosen my favorite feathered creature and I have faved this to keep. Lovely write. If I could think of a spirit animal which I could not, this would be it. Thanks for the words I could not say, Connie.

I did the quiz, Connie. My spirit animal is an owl. It's not quite an eagle, but I wasn't too far off! I'll have to write an owl poem soon. :)

Love this, Connie. I once came face to face with an American Eagle while climbing one of the Appalachian mountains in N.J. I was 17 years young and stupid as I climbed without ropes (lol) Great entry for the contest..Good Luck! Hope all is well...Charlie

Thank you very much Charles. I know young boys may think they are invincible. My son who is now forty three has told me if I only knew half the dangerous stunts he has pulled it would have given me a heart attack. I am glad you didn't fall and are still around to tell the tale. I have only seen an Eagle close up at a zoo but I have seen and heard their cry from afar. Blessings xxoo

Awesome write, Connie; eagles are such incredible champions of the sky. We see quite a few of them here in Arizona. This is a lovely work you have shared with us. Lots of imagery and cadence to enchant us. Thank you for sharing.

Beautiful verse and pictures, Connie! I love eagles and often write about them, myself. I think I'm trying to conquer my fear of heights, and one of my favorite Bible verses is Isaiah 40:31. Blessings, Rhonda xx

Thank you Regina. The eagle is a magnificent bird. We almost get stuck with the turkey to represent America if Ben Franklin had his way. Your comment is lovely. Blessings xxoo

The Eagle clans are highly regarded by Native Americans and wannabies - my sister never forgave me for telling one to hush (I was trying to photograph mating roadrunners disturbed by its threatening shrieks). Lovely tribute! Good luck in the contest. Aloha! Rico
