Alcoholic
tattered leather boots eyes tethered
with half a shoe lace
frayed socks hidden by threadbare pant legs
rumpled shirt and jacket covering
a tightly drawn torso
solitary fallen angel lost in their plane
of existence rarely finding
enough food to sustain
hungry wringing hands knowing cold rain
in torrents or hot wind parching lips
companion to imagined phantom and ghost
twisting toward a black abyss
ciphers hold a mind in captive agony while
thirsting for a demon pint
aimless footballs meandering among sepia
and full shadow
one of the untouchables invisible beneath
harsh haloed street-lights
untouched by grace and providence yet
hopelessly beloved
oft mocked caricature freezing
on a park bench in summer
alcoholic
