A Story of an American Soldier
~ + ~
When I decided to become a soldier I took an oath,
The same oath every branch of military takes,
This oath that we freely take does not expire
Once we exit the military, it goes like this.
I do solemnly swear that I will support
And defend the Constitution of the United
States against all enemies foreign or domestic;
That I will bear true faith and allegiance to the
Same and that I will obey the Orders of the
President of the United States and the orders of
Officers appointed over me, according to the
Regulations and the Uniform Code of Military
Justice. So help me God.

Here is what you see in me as a solder.
There is discipline in me as a soldier
You can see in me when I walk;
I walk is a little taller now.
There is honor in all I do as a soldier
You hear it when I talk, listen to me.
There is a new found courage in me as a soldier
You can see it in my eye’s, there is no backing down.
There is something in me as a soldier
That make me stand apart from other men;
There is a new found strength in me as a soldier
That beats deep inside of my heart now!
A soldier isn’t the title of any man or woman
That can be hired to do, very few do so;
A soldier is the very soul of that man or woman
That is buried so deep inside of him.
A soldier is always a soldier even when time is done
He or she will never be able stand by when needed.
A soldier always serves his country first
The rest of his life he or she has to leave it all behind.
A soldier has to sacrifice what never
Come first into a civilian mind.
If you are a soldier I am saying this to you,
May God Bless and thank you for each and every soldier.
Because some gave it their all…
